The Barratt Foundation’s charity partner, Bookmark, has a simple but powerful vision: wanting every child to read. Unfortunately, 1 in 5 children in the UK, aged 5-8, do not have a book of their own at home.
Over two months, Barratt colleagues generously donated their pre-loved children’s books as part of Bookmark’s Book Drives, organised in partnership with the Children’s Book Project.
At least 12 divisions across the UK participated in the book drive during September and October, collecting over 2,400 books.
These books will be distributed to children in disadvantaged communities, helping them develop essential reading skills and fostering a lifelong love of reading.

These are more important than ever, as budget cuts have prevented our partner schools from acquiring new resources for their reading spaces. Thanks to your generosity, more children in disadvantaged communities will experience the joy of reading.”
