Bookmark is a charity on a mission to give every child the reading skills and confidence they need for a fair start in life.
Through their flexible, volunteer-led reading programmes and delivery of high-quality resources, Bookmark is helping to tackle one of the UK’s most urgent education challenges: right now, more than one in four children leave primary school unable to read well. Since 2022, we’ve proudly partnered with Bookmark through a £550,000 partnership, focused on improving literacy outcomes for children in disadvantaged communities across the UK. Our support will help Bookmark:
- Deliver one-to-one reading sessions to children who need extra help
- Provide high-quality reading materials for schools
- Expand their reach to make sure no child is left behind
Barratt colleagues from across the business will also be volunteering with Bookmark, working directly with children to help build their reading skills, and their confidence, one book at a time.
